It's never too early to introduce the love of reading to children and spending time reading to a child is the perfect way to spend precious time together. News10 realizes the value of early literacy and is encouraging families to connect through books with the Reading Connect initiative.

There are many amazing stories of individuals who are encouraging kids and families to read. Dr. Celeste Roseberry McKibbin, Ph.D is a Speech pathologist at Sacramento State and has been collecting and donating books for kids who may not have access to reading material. Dr. Roseberry along with her associate, Dr. Robert Pieretti, Ph.D, also a professor and leading speech pathologist, discuss not only the book collection, but how parents can get involved with their child's education-  starting with reading at home.
