SACRAMENTO, CA - A Sacramento County man authorities said fled to the Philippines while out on bail on jail booking charges alleging he molested a young girl is back in custody.

Scott David Shrum, 46, surrendered on Aug. 5, 2010 following a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department investigation regarding a report he sexually abused the girl, who was between 7 and 14 years old at the time, over several years, said sheriff's Sgt. Jason Ramos. The girl and Shrum lived in the same home.

Shrum posted bond a day after his arrest and then didn't show up for a mandatory court hearing, Ramos said.

Sheriff's detectives sought the assistance of the FBI and their effort located Shrum in Cebu, Philippines. Ramos said a federal arrest warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was issued and on Oct. 16, Philippine authorities took Shrum into custody.

He was extradited to the U.S. and is back in Sacramento County Jail on no bail hold, Ramos said.
