Jose Javier Cortez Ontiveros
LODI, CA - A suspected sexual predator was arrested in Lodi Friday morning.
Jose Javier Cortez Ontiveros was taken into custody after showing up to meet with a San Joaquin County sheriff's detective posing as a 14-year-old girl the suspect met online and allegedly sexually assaulted last Sunday, according to sheriff's spokesman Deputy Les Garcia.
The victim and suspect reportedly began communicating on a social network website about three weeks ago and agreed to meet April 15 while the girl's family was away. Garcia said Cortez Ontiveros allegedly took the girl away for four hours and there was an alleged sexual encounter. When the suspect returned her to her home, she agreed to run away with him.
Monday, sheriff's detectives posing as the girl communicated online with Cortez Ontiveros where he allegedly said he would take the girl to Texas and marry and have a family with her, Garcia said. Cortez Ontiveros told "her" to bring identification and her birth certificate when he would meet her at a pre-arranged place in Lodi Friday morning. That is when he was arrested.
Cortez Ontiveras, a truck driver from Whittier, was booked into San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping, lewd and lascivious acts with a minor and intent to meet with a minor for sexual purposes.
