Take a walk on the wild side this weekend at the 2010 Sacramento County Fair. Chef Tyler will be doing cooking demonstrations scheduled daily during school tours to teach the importance of making healthy choices.

School Tours at the Sacramento County Fair gives school children an opportunity to get a hands-on experience designed to plant the seeds of knowledge about California's agriculture industry.    Beginning at 9 AM on May 27 and May 28, schools that have made prior reservations may attend the fair for free!

There are hundreds of 4-H and FFA livestock exhibits, barn tours provided by local FFA students, a petting zoo, Farmer for the Day Activities, displays of local agriculture and the 14,000 square foot "Sunflower Saddle Ranch" dedicated to activities based on ranch life.

"By learning where our food comes from, younger generations can feed their desire to learn, and hopefully, give a green, thumbs up to making healthy choices," said T.J. Plew, Manager of the Sacramento County Fair.

Fitting with the Summer Safari theme School Tour participants can take the "Safari Facts Challenge" as part of their tour of the fair.  Eighteen (18) clues are hidden throughout the fairgrounds.  Each clue is an opportunity to teach a fun food, health and safari facts.  Those that answer all of the questions correctly have the chance to compete for a hosted ice cream party in their classroom!

Students can also visit the Oasis Camel Dairy, go to the Wild About Monkeys' Show, visit Safari Adventure Live and talk to the birds at the Urban Jungle Bird Show.

The Sacramento County Fair runs May 27 - 31 at Cal Expo. Admission is only $3.  Children 12 and under and Seniors 62 and over are FREE. Go www.SacFair.com to for more information.
